One failing piece puts strain on everything else. We diagnose ASAP, quote upfront, and fix the root cause.
Tell us what's going on. We come out, look at your equipment, and write you a clear quote. No diagnostic fee, no obligation.
Serving Arizona homeowners since 1998
A failing pump strains your filter. A clogged filter overworks your motor. A restricted heater builds scale inside the exchanger. In Arizona (110° summers, monsoon debris, hard water), equipment wears out fast, and one neglected problem quickly becomes three.
Most issues are repairable: a worn seal, a dirty sensor, a failing capacitor, a scaled cell. We diagnose the actual root cause, show you the price before work starts, and only fix what genuinely needs fixing.
Since 1998, we've repaired pool equipment across Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Paradise Valley, and greater Phoenix. We service every major brand (Pentair, Hayward, Jandy, Raypak, Zodiac, Sta-Rite) and offer a 3-year warranty on qualifying Pentair equipment as a Certified Dealer. No unnecessary replacements, no surprise add-ons. Just honest diagnosis and equipment that works.
MAKO Exclusive has been doing pool equipment repair in Arizona since 1998. We're a small, owner-operated company built around proper diagnosis, fair pricing, and not replacing parts that don't need replacing. When something on your equipment pad fails, the rest of the system starts failing with it. A leaking pump shaft seal lets water reach the motor windings. A clogged filter starves the pump and overheats the motor. A scaled heat exchanger drops gas heater efficiency to 60% or worse. The longer any one of these goes unaddressed, the more it costs to fix.
We diagnose first. That means voltmeter on the motor, amp clamp on the wiring, manifold pressure on gas heaters, and actual flow rates measured at the pump. Most equipment problems trace back to a single failed component: a capacitor, a flow switch, a salt cell electrode, an ignition module, a sensor. Replacing that one part is usually the right call. We tell you the cost, the timeline, and exactly what we're fixing before we touch anything.
We service the full pool equipment pad: pool pumps (variable-speed and single-speed, motor and wet-end work, shaft seals, capacitors, bearings, impellers), pool filters (cartridge, sand, and DE, including multiport valve rebuilds and tank replacements), gas pool heaters (ignition systems, gas valves, pressure switches, heat exchanger and burner service), salt chlorine generators (cell replacement, flow switch and control board work), automation systems (Pentair IntelliCenter and EasyTouch, Hayward OmniLogic, Jandy AquaLink), valve actuators, pool lights (LED upgrades and replacements), and leak detection.
For new equipment, we handle installations as well: pump install, filter install, and heater install. As a Pentair Certified Dealer, we offer a 3-year parts-and-labor warranty on qualifying Pentair products we install (variable-speed pumps, salt cells, heaters, automation panels). For other brands we honor the manufacturer warranty and back the install with our own 1-year labor guarantee.
A few factors drive the higher failure rate here. Heat: pump motors typically run 12 hours a day in summer to keep up with chlorine demand at 100°F+ water temperatures. That's a lot of bearing rotations and capacitor cycles compared to a Midwestern pool that runs 6 hours. Hard water: CAP-sourced municipal water is high in calcium and total dissolved solids, which builds scale on heater elements, salt cell plates, and plumbing internals. Unmanaged calcium will reduce a heat pump or gas heater's efficiency by 20–40% within a couple of years. Dust loads: monsoon storms and routine desert dust push filter pressure up faster, which strains pumps if cleaning is skipped.
The best preventive measure for all of this is weekly pool service with proper water chemistry. When that's been neglected, recovery (chemistry plus equipment cleanup) often costs more than the missed weekly visits would have. We do green pool recovery too, and equipment inspection is built into every recovery so we're not just fixing the water and leaving you with a pump that's about to fail.
We don't charge a diagnostic fee. We come out, look at the equipment, and write you a clear quote on what it'll take to fix it. If it's not worth fixing (pumps over 12 years old with a failed motor, scaled heaters past their useful life), we'll tell you honestly and walk you through the replacement options instead. Service hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM, and we operate across the entire greater Phoenix metro: Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Paradise Valley, Carefree, Fountain Hills, Phoenix proper, and surrounding communities.
